Anatoly V Lichtenstein

Doctor of Biological Sciences, Head of the Tumor Biochemistry Group, Department of Experimental Tumor Biology, Institute of Carcinogenesis of the N.N. Blokhin National Cancer Research Center, of the Ministry of Health of Russia. Scientific interests: the evolutionary origin of cancer, the role of mutagenesis in the occurrence of the phenomenon of genetic mosaicism, methods for scanning mutations in tumor tissue and body fluids, liquid biopsy of malignant neoplasms. The results of his studies of the pathways of DNA excretion from the body of dying cells (on experimental animal models and on clinical material) for the first time showed the fundamental possibility of using “transrenal” DNA to detect a tumor growing in the body.

He is the author of 195 scientific papers. Member of the editorial board of the journal Bulletin of the N.N. Blokhin National Cancer Research Center, RAMS (until 2016), member of the Joint Academic Council of N.N. Blokhin National Cancer Research Center, of the Ministry of Health of Russia, the Scientific Council of the Institute of Carcinogenesis and the specialized Scientific Council for the defense of doctoral dissertations at N.N.
